Alban Bagbin Describes Withdrawal Of His Military Protection As Untenable

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Sumani Kingsford Bagbin is not a happy man as according to sources of Ghanajoint.com, his military protection unit has been withdrawn giving reason that they were attached to the Speaker of Parliament without proper procedure.

The Speaker of Parliament before the decision to withdraw his military protection, had four military personnel attached to his protection unit.

The four military personnel being, WO1 Jafaru Bunwura, WOII Apugiba Awine David, S/Sgt Agbley Prosper and Sgt. Bonney Prince, have all been serving Mr. Speaker since he assumed office as Speaker.

But a document dated January 11, 2022, according to our source, signed by Major General Nicholas Peter Andoh, the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters of Ghana Armed Forces, ordered the four soldiers to return to base by January 14, 2022, saying they were “attached to the Office of the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament without the proper procedure.”

“It is humbly requested that the personnel are withdrawn with effect from 14 January 2022 while efforts are made to regularize their attachment,” the letter from the Ghana Armed Forces Chief of Staff to the Speaker said.

Mr. Speaker, the Rt. Hon Alban Sumani Kingsford Bagbin , clearly not impressed by the decision to withdraw the services of his security has described it as ‘untenable’
