Director of Consumer and Corporate Affairs of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Nana Defie Badu has said that the NCA could out of necessity extend the deadline of the Sim Card re-registration, which was to fall on March 31, 2022.
The Director of Consumer and Corporate Affairs of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Nana Defie Badu revealed that the NCA is keenly monitoring the sim card re-registration process and could extend the deadline for the sim card re-registration to ensure no Ghanaian is left out of the process.
“We will continuously monitor the process. If it gets to the stage where we have to extend the deadline, we will because the communication access is very critical for our development for the use of all services in Ghana”
She noted that the main reason behind the re-registration exercise is to ensure that Ghanaians can access safe and secure communication service and that the exercise is not to deny anyone access to communication services.
“For the NCA and ministry of communication, one of the reasons for this exercise is not to deprive people of using communication services. The main objective is to make sure that people are using the communication services in a secured manner such that any transaction you do with you sim can go smoothly and then there are no issues,” she said.
