The Director of Communication for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Henry Asante Twum has made it public that the Black Stars’ pre-African Cup of Nations friendly which was planned against a Qatari based club has been cancelled.
According to the Director of Communication, there are certain challenges faced by the match which has necessitated the calling off of the match which was to help the Black Stars in preparation for the African Cup of Nations.
“Per the current situation, it is unlikely the friendly the game will come on tomorrow (i.e. today),” Henry Asante Twum said in an interview with Asempa FM.
The match would have been the first of four matches lined up for the Black Stars to help in getting them ready for the AFCON but unfortunately it has had to be called off with doubts being cast of the possibility of the others coming on.
Talking about setbacks, the Black Stars have suffered a major setback in their preparation for the tournament proper of the AFCON as AS Roma’s Felix Afena-Gyan has turned the called up to represent his country in the African Cup of Nations.
