“If the crowd will not applaud the agama lizard for surviving a fall from atop an iroko tree, it will applaud itself with the nod of its head”, this is the case of Ghanaian president and African of the Year, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has taken it upon himself to sing his own praise following a report released by Bloomberg, which shows that Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has seen a growth of 6.6%
The report released by Bloomberg noted that Ghana performed beyond expectations after an expansion of 3.5% in the last quater.
Reacting to the report, our President took a section of the report and shared it in a tweet with the caption, Ghana today!, with the Ghana flag attached. The section he shared read, “Ghana’s economy expanded at the fastest pace in more than a year in the third quater, buoyed by the growth in the services industry as schools that were forced to close last year because of the corona virus pandemic reopened”.
The services industry as highlighted by the extract as a contributing fact in the expansion of our GDP, contributed to 13.4% of the growth, the education sector expanded by 24.2% following the reopening of schools and agriculture expanded by 9.2%, led by fishing, which expanded by 14.3%.
