Pay Us What You Owe Us Or We Won’t Return To Work On Jan 5 – CHASS Issues Ultimatum To Government

The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) have issued what can be termed as a final warning to Government, that failure on their part to pay them their due would result in them not reporting back to work scheduled for January 5, 2022.

The decision reached by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools was expressly made by the National Executive Council at an emergency meeting held in Kumasi yesterday, December 23.

The meeting was held to discuss the repetitive challenges faced by secondary schools in the country as a result of Governments decision to implement its Free Senior High School Education policy

The council noted that unstable food supply and financial constraint; “delays in the release of monies to schools and also the releases that are generally done in bits” as barriers making it nigh impossible for management of schools to effectively run schools and which is affecting teaching and learning

The National Executive Council of CHASS has therefore issued an ultimatum to Ghana Education Service and by extension Government to address their concerns lest the boycott their duties after the Christmas holidays.

“Chass will officially inform the GES Management on the 4th January 2022 and advise parents not to send their wards to schools on the reporting date of January 5, 2022, as Heads will not be able to administer the running of the schools amidst these challenges.
We pray and hope that the issues enumerated above would be addressed by the end of this year, to avert any unfortunate happenings” portions of the resolution sighted by ghanajoint read.
