Kobina Tahir Hammond has made a rather damning assessment of the speaker of parliament Alban Bagbin, insisting that it would impossible for him to wear a coat of neutrality in his handling of affairs as speaker of parliament.
According to the lawmaker and member of parliament for Adansi-Asokwa, he is not in the least bit surprised at how Bagbin has handled proceedings of parliamentary affairs so far as it is common knowledge of where he traces his roots from.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews on Thursday December 23, KT Hammond noted that the speaker of parliament is in allegiance with the opposition National Democratic Congress. A relationship which compromises his ability to serve as a referee for parliamentary proceedings.
“You see, lets again be realistic. Alban Bagbin was always NDC. I don’t think he was ever going to change to be NPP. Its not possible. And on the leopard and skin, and those things you know how it is. So Alban Bagbin was always NDC, he was running for their presidency. And we didn’t vote for him. We the NPP did not vote for him. Except of course whatever happened, he won it,” he explained
“So the whole caucus of NDC, they voted for him. His spirit, his blood, his everything, he’s still NDC. There is no doubt about that. You can’t blame him. Let’s be realistic politically. He’s sitting there, and having been elected as speaker, he’s supposed to be neutral but is it possible? That’s the difficulty he has”, KT Hammond stressed
