Information About Akufo-Addo’s Travel Cost Confidential – Kan Dapaah

The cost of President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo’s travels has been a topic for major discussion over the past view months after the African of the Year decided to over look the country’s presidential jet which previous Ghanaians before him used before him, in favour of hiring high end luxurious jets which is said to deepen the burden on the Ghanaian taxpayer who is being asked to pay more taxes because the country’s economy is in a bad state.

Now, Kan Dapaah, who is the minister for national security was invited earlier today on the floor of parliament to answer questions related to the president’s travel cost to which he said such information cannot be disclosed as it is a matter of top state security.

“Mr Speaker, recent official travels to France, Belgium, and South Africa by His Excellency the President are paid for out of the operational funds from the Ministry of National Security.”

“Mr Speaker payments out of the ministry’s operational funds are glued with rules of confidentiality and state secrecy and it is not the normal practice…to make the suggested disclosures.”

Several questions are being asked of the presidency and their continuous preference for renting expensive high end luxurious private jets while the nation’s presidential jet has been reduced to an uber which is patronised by African nations which do not have a jet of their own
