President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo was named African of the year by Forbes Africa magazine and the magazine has now gone to present the Ghanaian president with an award. Forbes Africa magazine, who are the organizers of the African of the year award justified crowning Akufo-Addo as the African of the year by pointing as his visionary leadership and policies towards the development of his country, as a factor.
It sighted Akufo-Addo efforts to position Ghana as a country beyond aid, “Ghana beyond Aid” his leadership in helping the country in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, initiatives such as “The Year Of Return” and “Beyond The Return and the hosting of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat in Accra, Ghana being made Africa’s trade hub for Twitter Africa, among others, as visionary leadership and policies which merit awarding and celebrating.
Policies such as Agenda 111, free secondary cycle education (free SHS), NABCO and the likes were all hailed by Forbes African magazine as highlights of the Akufo-Addo led Government.
The Executive Director of Forbes Africa Magazine, the founders of CNBC Africa and ABN Productions, Mr Frederic Van de Vyver, highlighted these policies and many more as reasons why Akufo-Addo is most deserving of the recognition when presenting the award to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House yesterday.
