The Government of Ghana is finally the pressure and beginning to act like it should in way of instructing Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) to reduce price of fuel at the pump with immediate effect.
This directive from Government comes following crunch talks between the presidency and the leadership of the commercial drivers union to reduce the fuel prices as it had become unbearable for them to conduct business.
Yesterday, December 6, the commercial drivers union embarked on a nationwide strike to express their displeasure over the incessant increase in fuel prices and Governments inability to do anything to give them respite after promising to do so in previous meetings.
Their strike action left many commuters stranded on the roadsides as there was no commercial vehicle to render service. Government had to act quickly to save the situation and leadership of the commercial drivers union was invited to the presidency for a meeting
The meeting proofed fruitful as their strike was suspended with immediate effect, with Government also giving a directive to Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) for a reduction in price of fuel at the pump.
