The Ghana amputee national team, The Black Challengers, are calling on Ghanaians to come to their rescue by helping them with contributions to buy their plane tickets home after representing the country in the African Cup of Nations.
The Ghana amputee national team emerged the victors in this year’s African Cup of Nations after beating Liberia 3-2 in the final yesterday, December 4, to lift the trophy.
This win will mark the second time the Black Challengers have emerged as champions of the continental competition, beating Liberia to lift their first African Cup of Nations fourteen years ago in what was the maiden edition of the competition.
Their progress to win the competition was not without hiccups as they had to struggle all throughout the competition with lack of funds but still found it in them to hoist the flag of Ghana highest in the competition
And now after making their country proud, they are without money to buy return tickets back home and are therefore appealing to Ghanaians to acknowledge their sacrifice for people and country and also come to their rescue.
“We do not have money to buy tickets to return to Ghana from Tanzania and we need to deliver the trophy that we won the president Akufo-Addo, please help us, Richard Arthur Opantsil, the captain of the team said.
