A 20 Member Committe Set Up To Oversee The Resolution Of 2022 Budget Impasse

The leadership of parliament has thought it necessary to seek a solution of the 2022 budget impasse outside parliament, by ordering the set up of a 20 member committee to ensure that a resolution to all the misunderstanding surrounding the budget is realized.

The 20 member mediation team will be made of 10 members each from both the majority caucus and the minority caucus in parliament. Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh further disclosed that work of the 20 member mediation team will start today, December 2, 2021

Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyire constituency in the Eastern Region also made some disclosures in an interview he consented to with Accra based radio station, Neat FM.

According to the lawmaker, the recent happenings of parliament is enough reason for all those associated with parliament to bow their heads in shame as it does not paint a good picture of the country’s democratic principles. He added that the mediation team will continue to sit until a solution is reached for the 2022 impasse

“What is happening is disgraceful to the tenets of parliamentary democracy in the country,” he posited.

He concluded by stating that parliament will not reconvene until the committee finishes it’s work
